A sitemap is a visual organized model of a web sites content that allows the users to navigate through the site to find the information that they are looking for. A sitemap is a kind of interactive table of contents, in that each item links directly to its counterpoint sections of the websites.

It cannot be overlooked and it is very obvious. Sitemaps are one way to enhance the ranking of your website also keep your website a bit organized so that it is easier for the search engines to index your website. While you wish to create a sitemap you should remember that the host of URLs being added to the sitemap should be the same and the maximum number of URLs which can be added to a single sitemap cannot be more than 50,000. This will make much difference when it comes to your website ranking. It won't boost the ranking. Mainly there are two types of Sitemap, HTML and XML Sitemap.

HTML Sitemap are generally useful for the visitor of the website. It helps to navigate through various web pages present on the website. HTML sitemap is also a sort of webpage where the whole structure of the website is given.

XML Sitemap used by the search engines to crawl through the web pages of the website. This is not visible to the user of the website as it is an XML file. There are many online tools available that can help you create sitemaps very easily.
